Where the Zoological Training Center is located...
The Cat Tales - ZTC is located on a four acre wooded site north of Spokane, Washington in the rural suburb of Mead. The Park is arranged for easy access for the public, providing a walk through pathway in close proximity to the animals habitats. The habitats themselves are designed to be as natural as possible. Our climate offers a taste of each of the four seasons, so students and staff can experience how the changes in weather affect the animals, as well as the the way the facilities adapt daily operations. The staff and students spend the majority of their time outdoors in the Park. This provides the best learning environment for animal observations and hands on experience. Classroom time is held in the main school office building.
The World of Zoo Keeping...
Contrary to popular belief, being a zoo keeper is not all about spending endless time with exotic animals. While zoo keepers do work with animals, the majority of their time is working for the animals. Long hours and hard work are the corner stones of this career. Every aspect of the work zoo keepers do help contributes to the success of their zoo or other facility, and to providing the best possible life for the animals in their care.
Our course is not just for zoo keepers...
While the majority of students who enroll at Cat Tales ZTC are preparing for a future career in zoology, our course can provide you with training and education useful in other fields as well. Animal trainers, public educators of conservation, veterinary, and wildlife management are just some of the fields where our graduates have gone on to find successful careers.
CTZTC training prepares you for success...
While we do not guarantee job placement for graduates of the program, we receive requests on a regular basis for information on upcoming graduates as possibilities for positions at various facilities. Top names in the Zoological community hire people who have successfully completed our program, because of their well-rounded training.
